Holiday “Slide” Rule: If your collection day falls on one of the seven major holidays (New Year’s, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, or Christmas), your pickup will shift one day later for the remainder of that week.
Trash needs to be bagged and in an appropriate trashcan. Bags should not be set out by themselves without a trashcan to make sure that litter does not pollute the streets and to deter wildlife from getting into trash.
Recycling needs to go into an appropriate recycling receptacle. Recycling cannot be bagged in any type of plastic bag or include any type of plastic bag. Read more about Baltimore County recycling information here.
Bulk Item & Yard Waste
Bulk Items: Each single-family home is entitled to two scheduled bulk collections per year (up to 3 items per pickup) at no additional cost. You do not need to call to schedule these; the dates are pre-assigned on your 2026 collection calendar.
Yard Waste: Collected seasonally from April through mid-December. Use paper lawn bags or bundles tied with twine; plastic bags are not accepted.
Drop-off Center: The closest facility for Westerlee residents is the Western Acceptance Facility at 3310 Transway Road, Halethorpe (Monday–Saturday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.).
